Thanks for the encouragement :-) The point behind using XML rather than OLE is, that I try to create s.th. on a unix server, .. well .. platform independence that is :-)
And indeed. the file format of OpenOffice is a zipped file (though file-ending is not zip) with five xml-Files in it. One of them is content.xml, the others seem to be meta and style-information, so I concentrate on the content (and no, I still haven't read all available documentation).
My end-goals:
- doing an impress-presentation from lotus notes data
- creating a writer-invoice from my invoice-database and saving it as .pdf (hey OO has Java SDK too :-)
- creating reports in OO-Calc with diagrams as standard-solution for my databases
